Music always played a central role in David Victor’s life. David’s earliest memories of the importance of music came from listening to KFRC on the radio, soaking up all the hits, reveling in pop masters like the Spinners, Temptations, Jay Ferguson, Henry Gross, the Beach Boys, Bread, Elton John and so many more. A little band called Led Zeppelin kept popping up here and there, but their ethereal and powerful music was quickly subdued by the horrible strains of Leo Sayer. Then in 1978, David got serious about playing the guitar when his sister’s boyfriend was strumming the opening strains of “More Than a Feeling” on the family’s front lawn one summer night. “How long have you been playing?” David breathlessly asked. “Two weeks!” This was the art for him! Over the years, David kept playing guitar, and for a while there, he got relatively good at it. At one point, he even did a workmanlike job of playing the solo in “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”, which is still truly beyond him to this day. Fortunately, the only somewhat easier “Eruption” was the coin of the guitar hero realm, and David passed muster on that, performing the song at his high school senior show. Quickly thereafter, David joined a top-40 band called Secrets, which played throughout Contra Costa County and even did a road trip or two. David first tried moving to LA in 1984. Making money proved so difficult in the San Fernando Valley (where he somehow knew he had to be) that he kept moving further and further south, until he was even considering Dana Point. Before heading that far south (which would have been lovely, no doubt), David ran out of money and moved back to the Bay Area. Eventually, David went back to college, earning his BSCS in 1989 from California State East Bay. Music continued to pull at him. So in 1991, David put together all the songs he had ever written and produced his very first album, “Proof Through the Night”.

David Victor was born in the beautiful San Francisco East Bay Area and was an Angeleno from 1999 until 2014, when he moved back to the East Bay (San Ramon, to be precise). Growing up in the Bay Area was lovely, and David is unapologetically a suburban baby boomer. Music played a central role in that Bay Area childhood, from KFRC on the radio to the summer night in 1978 when “More Than a Feeling” on the family’s front lawn made David pick up the guitar for good. That story is told in full in Early Music Memories.

**Content:**

Bio - David Victor San Francisco Bay Area native DAVID VICTOR is a digital marketing and SEO specialist, founder of Boomcycle Digital Marketing, founder of a hospice and hospital live music charity, and lifelong performing musician, guitarist and vocalist. So as not to bury the lead, the rock ‘n roll story comes first. David lived out the Rock Star movie dream, being plucked from a cover band into the namesake band whose music he was performing: the multi-platinum band BOSTON, with whom he appeared on two North American tours and had a #1 Classic Rock hit in 2014 for one week on classic rock radio with the song “Heaven On Earth”. Like BOSTON’s founder, David also chose the path of getting his college degree first so that he could pursue his own musical dreams. Always fascinated by technology, David satiated an early interest in electronics by pulling apart his uncle’s old shortwave radios. Early Years David first picked up a guitar at the relatively late age of 16 after seeing his sister’s boyfriend pluck the opening strains of “More Than a Feeling”. Hundreds of guitar lessons soon followed, as David tore through the best-of-the-best local guitarists, including ridiculous shredder Marc Bonilla. At age 18, David graduated from high school and began performing with several original hard rock and cover bands in northern California. Stints with regularly-working cover bands and rarely-working original bands followed over…well, they’re still following! A few abortive move attempts to the Los Angeles and Orange County area to “do music” convinced David that he needed to complete a solid education so that he could pursue the musical dreams of his own choosing. His interest in techie subjects led him naturally to study computer science. Following the completion of his BS in Computer Science at Cal State East Bay, David set to work at Ingres, a major database vendor and got to work earning a living. Original Music & Velocity With his Ingres earnings, David financed, wrote, recorded, and produced his first commercial release, PROOF THROUGH THE NIGHT in 1991, a 10-song collection of original music. With a huge nod to Rick Springfield, an early and often influence, the album was a slice of pure pop joy, and (being that it was 1991 and everyone had to be sad and sullen) received hardly any notice. One notable non-event during that period was meeting one of his guitar idols, Ronnie Montrose, in Walnut Creek. Ronnie liked what he heard on David’s album enough to jam with him a few times at his rehearsal studio, along with Ronnie’s drummer from local band BUSTER BROWN. After an initial flurry of meetings and phone calls, Ronnie advised David to put together his own band. Good idea, Ronnie! David put together the original rock act VELOCITY in 1996 and recorded and produced the debut album IMPACT in 1997, which included the late, great drummer Pat Torpey (MR. BIG, ROBERT PLANT, THE KNACK) on drums. The live band VELOCITY consisted of a variety of…

Original Music Original Music David Victor has written, recorded and produced five albums of original music and released several singles.   David’s best selling album was Impact, for a band he founded called Velocity, released in 1996. The album spawned three singles: “You Don’t Amaze Me Anymore”, “Janine” and “Love Is Dangerous”, all of which rose to #1 on Salt Lake City’s K-ROCK radio in 1997. The album received rotations on rock radio throughout the United States.   IMPACT went on to sell over 5000 copies in Utah alone, outselling Metallica’s “Load” that summer. IMPACT was also released in Japan (AVEX) and in Europe (MTM).   David also released a solo debut album Proof Through The Night in 1991 which was re-mastered and released in 1997 following on the success of IMPACT. David also released new music on CDBaby in 2011 for a release entitled “Strength of Conviction” and again in 2019 for “Songs from the Heart” which contains David’s greatest hits, as voted on by his fans.   David Victor’s music is available for purchase on Amazon.com (when in stock), while 2019’s “Songs from the Heart” is always available at shows.
