David Victor is at long last back in the studio working on music for a new full-length album. The album, working titled “Strength Of Conviction” will feature original music as well as a few covers of some well-known and not so-well-known classic rock tracks.
The new album is being produced by the multi-talented hit producer/engineer Anthony Mazza, best known for his work with pop superstars Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Ja Rule. David Victor first met Anthony Mazza during a somewhat strange recording session: a Linkin Park-esque cover of Justin Beiber’s “Baby”!
“I wasn’t expecting too much on this project. It was an AVEX project which was supposed to be on an album called ‘Re-Rock’. I did the session in like 30 minutes and that was it. After a couple of months I started wondering what happened to the track. So I got back in touch with the agent and he forwarded me a copy of what Anthony had done with the song. I was blown away!”

The syrupy smash hit that was “Baby” had been transformed into something that was nearly unrecognizable – yet, most definitely rock.
“I figured if he could do what he did to that song, he might even be able to salvage a few of my tunes! So I immediately got in touch with Anthony and said ‘We gotta do an album together’. I had no idea at the time the guy would turn out to be a rocker.”
Mazza, a Chicago native, was a guitar player first with very similar tastes to David Victor, including an abiding love for the supremely under-appreciated Bryan Adams band guitarist Keith Scott as well as song-oriented rockers like Rick Springfield, Def Leppard and Boston. The pair began work on the new album in November 2010.
“It’s been great getting to know Anthony and talking about all our mutual rock influences. We’ve been working on a bunch of new original tunes and a few interesting cover ideas. I can’t wait for people to hear them!”
Zero Gravity is targeted for release in Summer 2011. At least one single is also slated to be released via iTunes and CDBaby.com in advance of the album release.
